The Joys of Tolerance: Reflecting Diversity Through the Twelve Tribes
The Joys of Tolerance is a contemporary artistic approach to the understanding and recognition of the diversity of people and identity. Twenty four original works of art by Mexican artist Anette Pier colorfully express the theme of the ancient Twelve Tribes of Israel as a universal concept of the “first diverse society.” Through depicting the personality traits of the Twelve Tribes and demonstrating that these traits exist in all ethnic groups, the exhibit demonstrates the diversity yet universality of humankind. Photographic collages of twelve Floridians who reflect, in the eyes of the artist, the characteristics of each of the tribes make the “American” connection. The exhibit illustrates that tolerance is the key to our civilization’s survival.
