Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade Programs at PHDS

Daily Life at Peoria Hebrew Day School includes secular and judaic studies along with music and computer lessons and so much more! Our new playground is the perfect spot to spend free time playing with friends and snow is one of our favorites.

 

A Peek at our Week:

We are going to do a couple more activities with our study of space. We are also going to start an “Angry Birds” writing lesson. It should be fun and the students are REALLY looking forward to it. We also had a TON of fun learning about the phases of the moon!  The students used Oreos to represent 4 phases that the moon goes  through: new, first quarter, half, second quarter.   We also learned the Sun doesn’t move in the sky, it’s actually the  Earth. We went outside in the morning to look at our shadows. Then we  went out in the afternoon to see how  our shadows changed. It was a lot of fun!

Secular Studies - Our curriculum focuses on learning life long skills like phonics, math, reading, science, social studies, art, music and building important social skills that will carry our students into the higher grades and life.

 

Jewish Studies

We begin to introduce children to jewish studies in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade with the emphasis on Hebrew vocabulary and reading. Daily prayers, songs and stories illustrate Jewish life and include the celebration of holidays.
